Jaya Lakshmi  began leading kirtan and writing devotional songs on the guitar, harmonium and piano in the early 1990′s shortly after receiving harinam initiation from Srila Govinda Maharaj, a spiritual teacher of bhakti (devotion) from West Bengal, India. 

 

As a singer/songwriter she is known for her authentic and deep devotional spirit as well as playing an important part in establishing kirtan and mantra music in the west.  Her angelic voice and loving presence opens the heart in a way that brings the listener into a state of harmony and bliss. Since 1997 she has created 20 albums, all in the mantra/chant/new age genre. 

 

Jaya Lakshmi tours regularly in the USA (mostly western region) and internationally and has a global following.

A dedicated yogi, she has regularly practiced hatha-based since 1996, integrating kundalini yoga since 2010 and certified through Sattva Yoga Academy in Rishikesh. She leads Yoga, Mantra and Vocal Empowerment Retreats annually around the world.

Lakshmi began collaborating with Teresa Carnicelli in early 2021. They quickly realized what an auspicious gift they had been given to hold ceremony and share wisdom teachings together as a team, inspiring and empowering one another to step into even greater works, listening to the call of the rising Divine Feminine.
